Willie Hardwick

November 5, 1939 — July 10, 2016

Willie Mae Hardwick was born November 5th, 1939 in Tallulah, Louisiana to the late J.D. Joiner and Pearl Williams Harden. She departed life Sunday, July 10th, 2016 in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her loving husband, Fred Hardwick, Jr. and close family members.

She resided in North Las Vegas, Nevada since 1947. The outspoken vivacious independent woman married the love of her life July 14th, 1977. For much of her adulthood she attended Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where she was an active member and avid supporter of the music ministry.

As a resident of Southern Nevada since 8 years of age, Willie Mae grew to love her city and served her community in the hospitality industry. She went on to work for the Clark County School District and retired after more than 20 years of service to the district.

Some of her favorite things to do in her spare time included gaming, puzzling, crocheting, caring for her grandchildren and ruling over Poppa. Her quick wit and sense of humor left us all laughing out loud at times. She will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish fond memories are her husband and seven children: Gloria (Ed), Judy, Vickie, Michael (Lorry), Bernard (Debbie), Felicia (Aundrae) and Gerald. She also leaves her youngest brother John David “JR” Rodgers of Lancaster, California, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her brothers Sam “Money” Prater and Herman Prater as well as one precious daughter Sarah.
