Valda Rose Greene was born on Wednesday, November 30, 1955, to Lelar Mae Sanders and Willie Davis, Sr. Yes, her first name is Valda, but to us, she was Rosie. She was the fifth of seven children.
Rosie attended Hartigan and McKinley grade schools, Rosa Parks Middle School, and Thornton Township High School in Harvey, IL.
Rosie was a compassionate and dedicated medical professional for over 30 years. She worked as a Dialysis Technician for DaVita Dialysis, and as a Phlebotomist for LabCorp in Las Vegas, NV. After retiring, she set out to take another path in her medical career. In 2022, she graduated with honors from DeVry University after completing a Medical Coding and Billing Certification.
To know Rosie was to love her. Her bright smile, boisterous presence and hilarious sense of humor made her the life of the party wherever she went. No family gathering was complete without her incredible cooking, famous "booty-up dance" and her leading everyone in doing the "WOBBLE".
Rosie pulled no punches. She spoke her mind and would tell you about yourself whenever and wherever you needed to be set straight. No matter what was going on in her world, Rosie kept a smile on her face. She kept laughing and she never missed a beat. Rosie loved her family with her entire heart, and she will be missed beyond measure.
Our beloved Rosie departed this earthly life on the morning of Tuesday, January 24, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her younger brother, Harold.
Valda Rose Greene leaves her daughter, Michelle Davis; her grand-daughter, Melaina Rose Marie Lee; her future great granddaughter, Valda Larissa Heinzer; her two sisters: Cyrea Monroe and Darlene Davis; her three brothers: Leonard Davis, Jerome Davis, Sr., and Willie Davis Jr.; her lifelong best friends: Juanita & Shirley; The Martins; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and dear friends to cherish her memory.
Rosie, even though you have departed this life, you will never leave our memories. We will hold you in our hearts always.
