Sharon Yvonne King (aka The Queen King Jr.) was born on April 15, 1957, to parents Gus
Van and Louise Adams in Oakland, California. Sharon was one of nine children, two sisters (one
of whom was her twin sister) and six brothers.
Sharon graduated from Skyline High School and furthered her education at Contra Costa
Community College in California. Sharon was a dedicated employee of Alta Bates Hospital as a
PBX Operator where she never met a stranger.
Single-mother to young Yvonne, Sharon met her soulmate, Thomas Lester King, Jr. and his son
in 1979. With just a few home-cooked meals, Sharon easily won the hearts of both Tommy and
Lil Tommy. Sharon and Thomas wed in 1982. A few short years later, the family welcomed a
baby boy, Rodney and completed the King family unit.
The family decided to pursue other opportunities and moved to Las Vegas, NV where Sharon
thrived in her new career as a card dealer at Gold Spike and Fitzgerald Casino & Hotel. At the
time of passing, Sharon was a loyal and passionate employee of Dollar Loan Center for 10+
years.
Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers (James, Al, and Cecil) and sister
(Tanya). Sharon was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother and sister. Sharon is survived by
Husband~Thomas King, Jr., Son~Thomas King, III (Amanda King), Daughter~Yvonne
Dunkley-Cannon (Kenneth Cannon) and Son~Rodney King (Cierra King), ten grandchildren
(Keone, Drevin, Devon, Lindsay, Chaisyn, Thomas, IV (Boogie), Olivia, Prestyn, Jeremiah and
Juelz, God Mother~Gloria, Twin Sister~Sherry Baker (Wayne Baker), Brothers~Steven Van, Lil
Gus and Floyd and God Sister~Rita Garnett. Sharon leaves behind a host of special nephews,
nieces and many more.
Sharon was loved by many and will truly be missed by all.
