Suddenly, on August 16th, 2023, Our Heavenly Father sent an angel to bring Shakira home.
She is survived by her beautiful children Kira I. Young (20) and Josiah L. Green (12), parents Lula F. Castle and Michael L. Castle, and sister Lara M. Cross (husband Marcus, daughter Chloe).
She is preceded in death by her beautiful baby boy Kai, who passed
away on February 3, 2023, at just 12 days old.
Shakira was born on February 3, 1980, in The Azores of Portugal where her father Michael was stationed with the United States Air Force. The family moved to the United States that same year, when Shakira was just 6 months old when he was transferred to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, OK.
Four years later, in 1984, he was then transferred to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV, where Shakira spent the remainder of her life.
Shakira's greatest joy was being the mother to Kai and Josiah, and spending time with her family. Shakira's mother Lula was born in Wales, so Shakira had a large extended family in the United Kingdom as well.
We are grateful to those who traveled to be here to honor Shakira's life.
We will love and remember Shakira for the rest of our days, until we are reunited in Heaven.
