Rubena Johnson

A Time to be Born: Rubena “Sista” Johnson was born February 22, 1953 in Clarksdale, MS. She was the daughter of proud parents Cora Bell (Marshall) Williams and Robert Williams Sr.

A Time to Learn: She attended Clark High School in Las Vegas, Nevada where she excelled in drama class and desired to pursue a career in acting.

A Time to Live: Rubena was a loving person who only wanted to see those around her happy and pleased with whatever she chose to provide, present or prepare for them. She lived for her family, especially her mother, sisters, children and grandchildren.

A Time to Laugh: She loved laughing with her children as she celebrated time with them on her “First Sunday family dinners”.

A Time to Work: Rubena spent most of her working years as a cook for the Culinary Union. Although, her love for drama landed her role as the beautiful showgirl in the Circus Circus show “The Shambero Show” in the early 70’s.

A Time to Serve a Christian Life: She grew up in church and had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. In the fifty plus years in Vegas she was a member of New Light MBC, Rev. Henry, New Birth Assembly, Rev. Tyrone Seals, and returned to her church home of New Light under the covering of Rev. Adam Addison.

A Time to Weep: Rubena went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2013. She is proceeded in death by grandparents Henry and Roberta Marshall, father Robert Williams Sr., sister Elmer Ree Whorley, and brothers Robert Jerry Williams and Ricky Nelson Williams.

A Time to Remember: Our beloved Rubena Johnson is remembered by her son Henry Mark Johnson and daughters Tracy Harriford and Cora Williams, mother Cora Bell Walker and step-father Robert Walker, sisters Curtistene Turner and Roberta Ballard. Grandson’s Marcus Johnson, Marquis Johnson, Robert Johnson, Rashad Johnson, Jarmal Johnson, Asantae’ Johnson, Keveon Glenn. Granddaughters Chauntenae’ Harriford, Breyona Morrison. Great grand children Marcus Johnson Jr., Nariah Rivers and Nevaeh Christmas, along with a host of nieces , nephews, cousins and friends.
