Melvin Jackson was born to the union of Crawford and Courtney Jackson on April 16th, 1926, in Tyronza, Arkansas. From the young age of 14, he became well acquainted with work and didn’t retire until the age of 86. He did construction work and later joined the United States Coast Guard, where he served as a Merchant Marine.
After his discharge, Melvin moved to Seattle, Washington and lived there for a short period of time. He decided to pick up and move to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1953. He fell in love with Vegas and decided to build himself a home.
He worked all over Las Vegas as a construction worker building several casinos, roads, and much more. Melvin worked as a shoe shiner at The Mirage Casino and was forced to retire at age 86 due to heart failure.
Melvin loved playing checkers and was a winner to all his challengers. He loved people and was always willing to help those in need.
On Wednesday, morning of April 13th, 2021, The Lord Jesus Christ called Melvin home to glory.
Melvin leaves behind a host of family and friends who will truly miss him wholeheartedly. He will never be forgotten!
