Mary Lynnis (Hargrave) Starks, the daughter of the late Herman and Julia (Moore) Hargrave,
was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 25, 1959. She was one of 10 children.
Mary attended Corliss High School in Chicago, Illinois, Mary dedicated her life to Christ at a
young age. Ever since the age of nine Mary knew who her husband would be. On June
21,1981 she Married the man of her dreams Mr, William D. Starks, and to this union two sons
were born, Justin, and Johnathon.
Mary was truly an overcomer, very crafty, loved music, and much like her mother had a lot of
sayings.Mary was always known for “giving it to you straight with no chaser”, hence adopting
the nickname “Rhona Barrette”. Mary enjoyed being around family and loved her grandkids, she
also took pride in being married for over 40 years.
Mary departed this life on Thursday January 25th,2024 at 9:23am at North Vista Hospital in Las
Vegas Nevada.
Mary leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory two sons Justin Dywon Starks (Kimberly) of
Las Vegas Nevada, and Johnathon Terrell Starks of Las Vegas, Nevada. Six sister, Regina
Bradford of Las Vegas, Nevada., Dr.Brenda Blanks (Richard) of Phoenix City, Alabama,
Magdalene Chapman of Las Vegas, Nevada, Wanda Hargrave, of Chicago, Illinois, Veda
Collins (Ricky) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cassandra Whitehead (Michael) of Las Vegas,
Nevada.
Three grandchildren, Janaya Lani Starks, Jayanna Maree Starks, and Justice Denise Starks,
One daughter-in-law, Kimberly Starks, Seven sister-in-laws, Sheila Cathey of Dallas, Georgia,
Elenora Hargrave of Burnham, Illinois, Diane Starks, Brenda Faye Starks,and Roaline Starks,
all of Memphis Tennessee, and Shirley Starks of Chicago, Illinois. Brother-in-laws, Charles
Starks of Memphis,Tennessee, Ricky Collins of Las Vegas, Nevada, two special friends Lentoy
Finch and Susan McDowell, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Ronald Hargrave, Donald Hagrave, and
Phillip Lee Hargrave, Sister-in-law Bertha Starks, Dorthy Lenier and Patricia Hargrave, brother-
in-law Michael Whitehead,Huda Starks, Alva Starks.
Though Mary has bid farewell to this earthly journey, her legacy of love, resilience, and
unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May
she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the divine presence she so faithfully served.
