Marjorie Eloise Rogers was born on October 6, 1935, to the union of Lawrence Johnson and the former Grace Comeaux in Los Angeles, California. She received her formal education at Bishop Conaty, “Our Lady of Loretto” High School in Los Angeles, California. In 1953, Marjorie went on to further her education after she received a scholarship for the nursing program at Marymount California College.
Marjorie was baptized in 1935 and received communion in 1942. She received her confirmation in 1949, after taking the name Grace at the age of 13 at the Holy Name Church. In 1965, she was united with St. Michael's Church on
Manchester Blvd in Los Angeles. Marjorie was an avid teacher in the church. She taught catechism. Additionally, she was a Den mother for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Brownies.
Marjorie Johnson was united in holy matrimony with Willie Dean Allen in 1960 and was blessed with two children. She was employed by John Wesley County Hospital in the Pathology Research Department as a Histologist, Cytologist, and a Lab Tech Assistant servicing in the medical field for 30 years. In her pastime, Marjorie was a proud seamstress and craft artist, that would participate in craft shows. She loved to travel and took her children to Europe, the Virgin
Islands, Mexico, and several other places.
On Saturday, November 5, 2022, Marjorie departed this life. Preceding her in death were both her husbands: Joseph Rogers and Willie Dean Allen; three brothers: Lawrence “Sonny” Johnson, Silvester Johnson, and Emmet Johnson; and two sisters: Ana Marie Johnson and Juanita Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Cynthia (Kenneth) Allen-Weissinger; her son, Mark Eugene (Cecilia) Allen: her 10 grandchildren: Roshawn Broughton, Marcedes' Clanton, Shellynne Allen Waldron, Justin Allen-Jones, Mark Allen Jr, James Martinez, Nicole Allen, Michael Allen-Weissinger, Lili Allen, Faith Allen; six great grandchildren: J. Shean, Kayla, Deanna, Caiden, Matthew, and Holly; her niece, Sharice Atkins and a host of other relatives and friends that will greatly miss her.
