Lee Shavers

February 15, 1962 — April 9, 2021

Lee Andrew Shavers was born on February 15, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois to his father R.C Mayers, his mother Bessie Shavers. Lee met Grace Clark in Chicago, Illinois and together they had 4 wonderful children. In 1989, The Shavers family moved to California, where they spent the next 19 years of their lives. During his time in California, Lee embarked on several business adventures, being the entrepreneur he was. Lee always had a love and passion for music since his early childhood. He was very musically inclined, playing the drums, keyboard, guitar, and of course his beautiful voice. He played the drums for the gospel group Mighty Clouds of Joy. Lee could sing the tears away from a baby, the heart break off a broken heart, move your feet out on the dance floor, or even just to soothe your soul with the sound of his voice. His brother Michael and him would sing for the family but, also in the studio. Soul and gospel music were Lee’s genre of choice. He had a love for karaoke, he used to Dj and Kj for local bars and events. In 2008, Lee moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he joined the gospel group, Gospel Soul Train. Music was his passion, he absolutely loved to make people feel good by singing. Family was the most important part of Lee’s life after all he was a grandfather to 5 grandchildren as well as one great-grandson. Whenever anyone of the grandkids
had any type of event, whether it was a graduation, awards assembly, birthday party, or even a school Harvest Festival, Lee made sure to make time to be there. Holidays were his favorite because it was a time they could all gather together, laugh, play dominoes, play cards, shoot pool, play chess, and sing. Lee loved his family, he would make regular trips back to California to visit with his many cousins, make trips back to the Midwest to visit with his siblings, nieces and nephews. Lee loved to travel, continuously taking yearly or sometimes 2-3 trips per year, by flights or cruises. During one of his many excursions Lee met his girlfriend Elsa, who had lived in the Philippines. Nothing stopped their relationship, daily phone calls, video calls, and photo exchange kept their relationship going until they were able to meet again. In January 2019, Lee was blessed again with another child. Since 2019, Lee had made bi monthly trips to the Philippines to visit with his family abroad. His life was fulfilled both in the
United States and in the Philippines. Lee had an undeniable love for life, in his final weeks he made appoint to speak to each of his kids and share his expectations of them when he was gone.
