Lashauna Matthews

February 10, 1989 — December 24, 2020

Born on February 10, 1989 to loving and adoring mother Sherae Long, in Los Angeles, California. As a young girl LaShauna spent all her time being silly, and full of love and laughter. Her light and aura radiated brightly, anyone who experienced her presence would be filled with warmth and joy. With her contagious laugh she brightened the dimmest of days
During LaSauna's teen years she moved from California to Las Vegas, NV with her mother and three younger sisters: Jessica, Jamilah and Aolani. She took great pride in being the eldest, the little "big" sister. One of her favorite things to do was cook for her family and friends - she cooked with so much, you could literally taste it!
LaSauna was know for her praise at River of Live Word Ministries. She was a fierce prayer warrior, and would praise with such enthusiasm her praise became contagious. She was a CLAP YOU HANDS, RAISE YOU VOICE, HALLELUJAH, THANK YOU JESUS, kind of person. No matter the circumstances she would find the best way to offer her praise. It was not uncommon for her to contact members of her church family just to share a prayer. She knew when to praise and she did so, even when she was physically weak. LaShauna knew the power of her praise.
She always desired a close relationship with God. She felt her best whenever she attended church. It was the one place she felt accepted despite her physical limitations. LaShauna gained strength from her commitment to God. When she moved to Las Vegas in 2010 her Aunt Marie invited her to River of Life Word Ministries. LaShauna immediately knew God was placing her there. She and her youngest sister, Aolani made The River their church home.
Through LaShauna's evangelism her mother, Sherae, sister Jamilah, Grandma Vivian, Grandfather Donald, Uncle Rashan, Aunt Carrie, and Uncle Mike all become members. Her sister Jessica would also attend.
During her membership at The River she diligently invited others to visit. At her dialysis unit, she prayed for fellow patients as well as their families. She loved Praise and Worship, often participating as Praise Dancer. She also received multiple Certificates of Appreciation in Ministry. LaShauna was always ready to share how awesome God and all the He's carried her through.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her mother, Sharae; sister, Jessica and nephew Jeremy Jr.; sister, Jamilah and niece Elisea; sister, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
