The sun rose on Katie’s life on a Wednesday afternoon at 3:31 P.M. January 13, 1982.
Katie was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Dorothy Watson and Ross Ferguson.
Katie was a bright energetic child with beautiful eyes and a captivating smile, not to mention her infectious laugh she still carried as a teen and then into adulthood.
Katie’s childhood was filled with love and she quickly grew into the centerpiece of her family being adored most by her grandmother Nancy. Katie also shared an amazing relationship with each individual in her very large family.
Katie’s parents split up when she was still very young and with the help of her mother's kid brother who sacrificed his summers at 13 to care for Katie a very special relationship formed between Katie and her Uncle Paul. Over time another addition would come in the way of a little brother named Kyle and despite their 12-year age difference Katie and Kyle shared a very loving relationship. After learning to read from street signs getting into 1st grade was no easy task but Katie quickly rose to the top of her class and continued that drive throughout her career.
Katie graduated in June of 2000 from Virgin Valley High School where she was honored for her dedication and loyalty to her fellow students and graduated with a 3.8 GPA.
Katie started her career in the medical field right out of high school, which suited her perfectly given her helping and caring spirit. In 2001 Katie gave birth to her eldest son, Cody Valdez, and found her first medical family at Dr. Timothy Sauters' office where she enjoyed 12 wonderful years. In 2006 Katie met her husband, Eric Lewis who would be a father not only to Cody but her two sons, Anthony Lewis and Blake Lewis, Katie, and Eric married on October 25, 2007 and the unlikely couple found a way to make things work with their love of the Dallas Cowboys and a zest for life Katie and Eric shared 15 years of marriage in 2021
Katie gained a daughter-in-law when her eldest son, Cody married his high school sweetheart Ajiona. Katie played a significant role in the family as well as her football and work family, with a host of nieces and nephews, Katie was a very loved TT always making her way to any event that included a family with camera in hand Katie captured so many memories that all of us will cherish in her absence, It is through these photos Katie’s memory will live on and never be forgotten.
Katie is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Hunt grandmother, Nancy Naylor, her Mother-in-law, Judith Lewis and Father-in-law William Lewis Jr.

Katie is survived by her husband Eric Lewis, her eldest son Cody Valdez, her second son Anthony Lewis, her youngest son Blake Lewis and her brother Kyle Lira as well as a host of very close friends, family, and loved ones.
