Joe Stanton

May 13, 1936 — June 16, 2021

On May 13, 1936, the earth was blessed with Joseph Harvey Stanton. Born in York, Alabama, he would grow up to have a major impact in the life of many. Joe, also known as Po-Joe was a strong, wise, and intelligent man who showed no weakness and had continual perseverance in his everyday journey and obstacles.

Joe served his country for 20 years in the Air Force as a POL; Fuel Specialist Sergeant. He was stationed at the Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. Throughout those years he continued to exemplify what it meant to be a strong leader and role model for all who knew him. In his later years, Joe retired, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. He lived in Las Vegas for 36 years being a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many; building and maintaining lasting and loving relationships.

Joe was a major sports fan knowing all the stats for not only baseball, and football but, for softball, and golf as well. Watching his sports with much anticipation, he would passionately express one of his favorite lines “I can do that”. He was also a lover of fast cars. Everyone that knew him knew that he had a lead foot, and would zoom past you in a second.

After 85 years of a fulfilling life Joe was called home. He leaves behind a loving legacy to his loved ones. He is survived by his four children: Constance Wilson, Michelle Spears, Andre Stanton, and Denise Westbrook; two siblings: Billy Stanton and Barbara Baskin-Hall and eight grandchildren: Christopher Wilson, Clifford Marshall, Deshan Carey, Yvonne Blocks, Dante Falls, Terrance Falls, Mirea Stanton, and Alma Stanton. Joe also leaves behind incomparable cousins, amazing family, and friends.

Joe Harvey Stanton will be missed and remain in our hearts until we are all in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
