Horace Miller Harvey was born in Los Angeles, California, on January 14, 1960, to the proud parents of his father, Howard Harvey Sr. and his mother, Elnora Harvey. He grew up with seven brothers: Elbert Wyches Sr., George Reed Sr., Lawrence Reed, Howard Harvey Jr., Tommy Harvey Sr., Karl Harvey, and Aaron Harvey Sr, two sisters: Gwendolyn Reed and Marie White,
Horace accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young child. Horace and his family moved to Compton, California, where Horace attended Frances Willard Elementary, Ralph J. Bunche Junior High, where he met his best friend, Ellis Dodson Sr, and graduated from Centennial High School.
Horace loved spending time with his childhood dog, "Gangster" and skating with his friends at Bunche Junior High. In his pastime, Horace loved to spend time with his family. So, every opportunity Horace's got to barbecue and listen to old school music, he made it happen. Especially, for the 4th of July. Horace always said, "The fourth of July was his favorite holiday". We would often see Horace enjoying the fireworks more than the children. We have many great memories of Horace playing and lighting fireworks with the children.
Horace was a loving father of three children. Even though Horace faced many challenges and obstacles, he still strived to give his children the part of him. He was a kind and loving father and valued every moment he spent with them.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Howard Harvey Sr. and Elnora Harvey, O'shen Harvey, and his great granddaughter, Charisma Harvey.
Horace leaves to cherish his memories of his two sons: Shondrae Lamaude Harvey Sr, and Juloni Terrelle Harvey; his daughter, Shondrea Sheri Harvey; three stepchildren: Alvin Conway Jr, Ryan Conway, and Jaleesa Conway; grandchildren: Dashon Harvey, Davion Harvey, Irene Harvey, On'drae Harvey, On'tonio Harvey, On'tony Harvey, Shon'dra Harvey, Shon'ya Harvey, Sierra Harvey, Cameron Harvey, Shondrae Harvey Jr, Shondrae Harvey lll, Rae Harvey, Rhayans Harvey, Toumaj Martinez, and Titus Pettiford; his uncle; a host of nieces and nephews.
He held dear to his heart his love for all his nieces and nephews. They called him their "Uncle Baby." Horace will always be remembered as their "Uncle Baby." Many of them will hold the memory of their “Uncle Baby” pretending to be a monster, he called "Foo-Foo.” Horace would place toothpicks in his mouth and turn off the lights and chase the kids through the house. They would run, scream, and pretend they were afraid of “Foo-Foo” the monster. Horace will be forever missed!
