With a heart full of adventure, a mind filled with wit, and a spirit of unparalleled generosity, Frank Gonzaga, known fondly as Totoy, lived a life that was nothing short of extraordinary. Born Francisco Buenviaje Gonzaga on November 14, 1942, in Cainta, Rizal, Philippines, his courage and determination led him on a journey that spanned continents, cultures, and countless experiences. Frank's life was a testament to the scripture verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"
(Philippians 4:13).
Frank's adventurous nature led him to serve four years in the US Navy during the Vietnam era and nine years in the Philippines Integrated National Police (INP), where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant and Chief of Police. A sharpshooter in the INP academy, Frank's courage was always at the forefront. After departure from the police force, he worked as an overseas Filipino worker in Saudi Arabia and Iraq for two years away from family. Upon his return to the Philippines, he immigrated with his family from the Philippines to the United States with $3000 in his pocket.
After immigrating to the United States, Frank demonstrated his tenacity and dedication by working for the US Postal Service for 22 years, retiring in 2005. Through hard work and determination, he was able to provide for his family and live the American dream. Despite his many accomplishments, Frank's most cherished memories came from spending time with his family, listening to music, playing basketball, and exploring the world. He was a founding member of the Cainta Association of California and passionately involved in Cursillo and Couples for Christ. His love for his family and his faith were the driving forces in his life.
Frank is survived by his wife of 58 years, Editha, his children, Frederick and Abilene, and, his granddaughter, Lauren Erica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anselmo and, Aquilina Gonzaga.
His passing on September 13, 2026, leaves a void that can never be filled but his legacy of courage, love, and generosity will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
