Frances Marie Toston, 69, the youngest of Sam and Myrtle Lee Toston's eight children was born and raised in Epps, Louisiana. She attended Magnolia High School during the late 50s and graduated in 1962.
After graduation she migrated to Las Vegas and promptly enrolled in Southern Nevada Memorial County Hospital School of Nursing, where in 1963, she was awarded an AA Degree for LPN (License Practical Nursing).
After a brief stint in Las Vegas, Frances moved to Los Angeles and applied her new trade at various hospitals in the area - including Queen of Angels Hollywood Presbyterian, and Hyde Park Convalescent Hospitals. With an eye toward upward mobility, Frances enrolled in El Camino College School of Nursing and studied to become an RN (Registered Nurse). She became an RN in 1993; graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. That same year Frances decided to put down her anchor at King Drew Medical Center, in Los Angeles. She received several promotions and awards while at King; the most prestigious award - Nurse of the Year - was bestowed in 2004.
After a 43 year nursing career -13 at King Drew Medical Center as a Critical Care Staff Nurse - Frances retired in August 2006. She moved back to Las Vegas where her successful journey began. Frances is the proud mother of one son, Christopher Toston, and a granddaughter named Taylor Toston.
On Monday, February 4, 2013, Frances Marie Toston made her life transition from this world to be at rest in the presence of the Lord.
Frances was proceeded in death by her parents; Sam and Myrtle Lee Toston; two sisters Emma and Madeline; and four brothers Leonard, Simon, Sirel, and Dave Toston
Cherishing her memories and celebrating her life are son Christopher Toston of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Taylor Toston of Los Angeles, CA, five sisters Mary Freeman, Sweetie King of Las Vegas, NV, Jewel Sierra (Vincent) of Oakland, CA, Dorretha Bams (Willie) and Velma Avery of Epps, LA; three brothers Roosevelt, Lee, and Samuel Toston of Las Vegas, NV and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends
