Eugene Watkins

Eugene Watkins was born on June 21, 1953, in Los Angeles, California to Jim Watkins and Essie Pogues. Eugene grew to be a loving soul who left a lasting imprint on every heart he touched. After college Gene moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where his journey of life, was liking to the words of Maya Angelou, was one where he "tried to be a rainbow in someone's cloud." He was a supportive pillar of strength, a beacon of unwavering loyalty, and the epitome of reliability. He married the love of his life, Johnetta on November 28, 1978.

He worked as a dedicated store clerk at Vons Supermarket in Las Vegas, Nevada, until he retired in 2019. His retirement years reflected his nature - filled with love, support, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends. His life was a testament to his strong values and his ability to bring joy and happiness to those around him, much like a comforting and familiar melody that resonates in our hearts long after the music has stopped.

On August 8, 2026, Eugene departed this life. He was preceed in death by both of his parents: Jim Watkins and Essie Pogues, and his loving wife, Johnetta.

Eugene Wtkins is survived by his loving sister Carolyn Feast, and his devoted nephew, Brondon Blenche. and a host of other family and friends. Eugene will be missed but never forgotten.

Services are being held under the direction of Heritage Mortuary. The viewing will take place at the Powerhouse Church of God in Christ, 1216 West Adams Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89106 on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00am PDT followed by a funeral service at 11:00am PDT. The burial will be held at Bunkers Eden Vale Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Boulevard North, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89101 at 2:00pm PDT.
