Dorothy Allen
Dorothy Allen was born May 18, 1934, in Los Angeles, California to Mae Couyette and James Fitzhugh. Dorothy was the last child in a family of four children. At an early age Dorothy and her family relocated to Las Vegas to complete her education and they remained there throughout her life.

She completed her high school studies at Las Vegas high school and went on to attend college at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). After college, Dorothy started her own newspaper called “Thrifty Shopper” which was popular in its time. Dorothy eventually decided to pursue her real passion for drawing and painting. She was the creator of the “Too Blessed to Be Stressed” line which is world renowned. Her use of religious themes and everyday people was well received by the public and her unique style distinguished her from all other artists.

Dorothy had a heart of gold and an infectious laugh. She made everyone around her smile. Dorothy was affectionately known as “Mom” to almost everyone who knew her. Later in life she moved with her daughter, Rhonda, to Milwaukee, WI where she stayed three years until the Lord called her home.
