Diane Lee

Diane (Thomas) Lee was born on May 18, 1955, in Detroit, MI, to the late Ralph Thomas and Leeora (Johnson) Thomas.

Diane was the seventh oldest of nine children, and the only daughter and sister. She was raised in Detroit where she attended public schools, graduating from Cooley High School in 1973. Diane accepted Christ early in her life, attending Christian Community Baptist Church in Detroit where she sang in the youth choir.

After graduating from high school, Diane attended business school. She became a bookkeeper working at several companies, including Burroughs Adding Machine Company of Detroit.

In the early 1980s, Diane, her husband Joseph Lee, and their two oldest children, Tamika, and Joseph III, moved to Akron, OH joining St. Thomas Baptist Church and later Second Baptist Church. She later gave birth to her third child, Anthony Cordell. She and her family moved to Las Vegas, NV, in July 2000.

In Las Vegas, Diane worked as the payroll master at Valley Hospital. She later went to Nathan Adelson Hospice, where she also was a bookkeeper. She joined the Second Baptist Church in Las Vegas. Diane, known to her brothers as “Sis,” moved to Phoenix in December 2019, before returning to Las Vegas.

Diane departed this life on July 13, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents; her husband; three brothers, Charles, Frank, and Anthony; and two nephews, Derek Thomas Mable, and Charles Thomas.

She is survived by five brothers, Ralph, Bobbie (Mona), Alvin, and Michael, all of Detroit, and Reginald of New York. Besides Tamika (Michael), Joseph (Libby) III, and Anthony Cordell, all of Las Vegas, she is also survived by a stepson, Elton Rumph of Troy, AL; two granddaughters, Aaliyah and Tamisha, and one grandson, Donovan; 21 nephews and nieces, numerous great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
