Delilah Jackson

June 21, 1956 — June 3, 2021

Ms. Delilah Jackson was born on June 21, 1956, to the late Elizabeth T. Jackson and Eugene Shields in Chester, Tennessee.

Later, the family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where she attended school and graduated from Northwest High School in 1974. Delilah was always an independent person and a hard worker.
Delilah got her first job at the age of 15 at Eddie’s Hamburger where they named a burger after her called the Delilah burger. She never looked back.

After her mother took ill in 1983 and had to relocate to Nevada, Delilah didn’t hesitate to pack her things and children to join her mother and become her caregiver. Still doing what she loved, working and providing for her family.

She landed a job at the Flamingo Hilton where she was employed for 34 years. She retired as an Inspectress in 2020. Delilah was also a great and talented cook. She often catered food for her family and friends and enjoyed it. A trait hand down from grandmother and mother. Delilah loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Anyone that knew her knows that she loved her family. Especially, her brothers, even though she was the baby, she was the big sister! The only girl, she treasured and protected her siblings. Delilah took on the role of big sister to her first cousins; Beverly, Natalie and Eleanor, whom her mother adopted after the death of her niece, their mother. She often said, “I am so happy because I have sisters.”

Those that know and loved Delilah know that she didn’t tolerate no mess and never hesitated to tell you off (and laugh at the same time) in a heartbeat and didn’t sugarcoat it. She was a true believer in God and stayed faithful to him.

Delilah was called home to rest on June 3, 2021, at the age of 64.

Delilah was proceeded in death by her paternal grandmother; Mrs. Luella Hunter, her mother; Ms. Elizabeth Watson, her adopted dad; Mr. Richard Watson, aunt; Maggie Starling, uncle; Fredrick McClendon, brothers; Wilbert Terrell, Luther Jackson, David Jackson, Robert Terrell, Mack Shields and Caling Starling Lewis.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children; Laymon Jackson, Shaka Earvin and Endeeia Jackson all of Las Vegas, Nevada, grandchildren; Laymon (Tank) Jackson, Layona Jackson, LaRy Jackson, J’nai Earvin and Cahli Sweets, brothers; Tommie Jackson, Eugene Jackson and Richard Watson of Indianapolis, Indiana, sister; June McCloud of Michigan, two special nieces; Shaunte Oliver and Danielle Jackson, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and godchildren.
