Bernard "Fish" Thomas
Bernard “Fish” Thomas, born on June 10, 1961, to the union of Fortune Thomas and Victoria Eugene in Grand Bay, Dominica, passed away on December 23, 2024. He grew up in Mabouchée and later moved to St. Thomas, where he spent the majority of his life. Bernard began his career working alongside Matt at Irie Remodeling & Construction Inc., where he contributed to various projects throughout the island. Then he transitioned and worked for Coral World as a dedicated maintenance man for many years, providing his expertise and hard work to the community he loved.
In his pastime, Bernard found joy in classic books and movies, but his passion for family, sports, and storytelling is what truly defined him. A man of few words, Bernard spoke with purpose, offering guidance that resonated deeply with those who knew him. His legacy is one of wisdom, strength, and love.
Known to many as "Fish," Bernard’s sharpshooting abilities on the basketball court earned him admiration in Grand Bay, Dominica. His nickname, however, had deeper roots, as it also spoke to his exceptional swimming skills and his ability to dive to the ocean’s depths with ease. Whether spearfishing or playing basketball, Bernard’s talents were undeniable, and he carried himself with unmatched pride and confidence.
Bernard was a devoted husband to his wife, Rosamund Thomas, and a loving father to his sons: Dwayne Kendale Thomas, Dalton Blaine Thomas, and Damon Kahlil Thomas. A loving family man, Bernard's greatest gift was his unwavering love and support for his loved ones.
On Monday, December 23, 2024, Bernard departed this life surrounded by family and friends.
He leaves his wife, Rosamund Thomas to cherish his memory, along with his four sons: Dwayne Kendale Thomas, Dalton Blaine Thomas, and Damon Kahlil Thomas; two grandchildren: Neyomi Thomas and Zuri Thomas; three brothers: David, Leroy “Sobaz,” and Selwyn “Farrel”; two sisters: Norine Bedminister and Corine Farrel; five aunts Philipa Eugene, Catherina Letang, Seraphine Eugene, Magdelene Eugene, Youland Eugene; two uncles: Eframe, and Eugamir Canaok; a host of cousins and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
