Barbara Delores Williams was born in Porterville, California on July 16, 1930, to Eddie & Nellie Williams
and was an only child. During the depression years she did a lot of traveling with her parents before
finally settling down in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1941. She attended Las Vegas High School until meeting
her soul mate, Shelly C. Camp, in the fall of 1944.
Barbara met Shelly at the Saddle Club which was located on Fremont Street. She was introduced to
Shelly by her father. Shelly was stationed at Nellis Air Force base and spent a lot of time with Barbara
and her family. Barbara and Shelly had many dates which consisted of dinner and dancing at The Green
Shack on Boulder Highway. Her dad highly approved of Shelly and signed off on the permission for them
to marry. They then got married in March of 1945. Shelly and Barbara had three children, which
consisted of one son and two daughters, all before her 18 th birthday. She also gained a stepson. She
was a very fun, caring, and loving mother who matured and grew up along side her kids. They lived in
Las Vegas until 1955 and then relocated to Farmington, New Mexico for four years. They owned and
managed two trailer parks while living in New Mexico.
They then returned with their family in 1960 to Las Vegas. Barbara then went to work at the Showboat Hotel as a change girl. They were avid bowlers and competed in many tournaments. They loved going dancing and spent a lot of time dancing around the home with their children. Shelly and Barbara were married for 33 years before she had the unfortunate experience of losing her soul mate at the young age of 46. Barbara then went to work at
the Landmark Hotel as a room reservationist.
During her time at the Landmark Hotel, she was introduced to her second husband, Victor Lichty. They
married in June of 1981. Vic had four adult children, which between the two of them gave them seven
children and lots of grandchildren. Barbara always loved the thought of a big family which she ended up
having with the marriage to Vic. They traveled a lot and Barbara was introduced to the world of Nascar
and the mechanical life. They eventually started their own business of a traveling tool truck supporting
Matco Tools, later becoming the Tool Slinger. They were married for 30 years before the passing of
Victor in May of 2011.
Barbara was loved by all her family, friends and anybody that got a chance to just talk to her. She was
energetic, charismatic, an avid reader and loved to talk to everyone. She loved to tell her stories from
the early years which consisted of a lot of dancing, bowling and wonderful family memories. She
remembered it all.
Barbara was preceded in death by both husbands, Shelly Camp and Victory Lichty, her son, Shelly C.
Camp Jr., her stepson Shelly Melvin Camp, her grandson Shawn Elliott and granddaughter Stacey Elliott.
