On Independence Day, 1949, in the city of Seagoville, Texas, God would bestow upon Thomas Andrew (T.A) and Mancy Galbreth his most precious gift, a son, they would call Ardell. One of seven children born to this union, Ardell was taught at an early age to place his trust in the Lord and hold fast to his faith, which he did until his passing. He was a devoted family man, who married Virginia L Chambers of Seagoville. Together they raised two children Kelly and Roderick. Ardell traveled all over the world before making Las Vegas his final home with his family.
Shrouded in humility, Ardell will always be remembered for his affable personality and quiet strength. Whether he was giving a presentation to a room full of executives, sharing the Gospel or spending time doting on his granddaughter (Sydney), Ardell’s charisma and benevolent spirit never faltered.
As a servant leader, his career was his passion, the Bible was his foundation, and his family was the cornerstone of his world. He served as chairman of the Deacon Board at Unity Baptist Church and was devoted to helping young people pursue their goals and remain optimistic in navigating life. Ardell believed no matter who you were if you ever met Jesus you would never return the same way you came. Ardell always talked about the lady who went to the well, if she only knew who she was talking to at the well, she would have realized that day was the beginning of her life.
Ardell was equally as proud of the two careers that he enjoyed over the span of several decades. Ardell proudly served his country for 28 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as Command Chief Master Sergeant. After a decorated military career, he embarked upon a second career, devoting his energy to nurturing Nevada’s workforce, helping people find gainful employment. Ardell was well respected amongst his peers and held various leadership roles during his long workforce development career. Upon his death, he served as the executive director of Workforce Connections, a position he held since 2012. Prior to his assignment with Workforce Connections, Ardell was appointed Deputy Director for the state of Nevada Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) in 2007. Additionally, Ardell served on the Southern Nevada Workforce Investment Board and as Vice Chairman of Nevada Governor’s Youth Council, and as a member of the National Youth Employment Coalition Board of Directors.
Ardell will be remembered for his relentless work ethic and boundless energy that kept him devoted to his family, church and colleagues until God called him home May 12th. The man that Ardell strived to be is epitomized in Galatians 4:22: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.” This is the legacy he endeavored to leave those who will carry on: children: Kelly Canada (Art) and Roderick Burrell; granddaughters: Sydney Canada and Trinity Canada; siblings: Richard (Shirley) Galbreth, Bach Springs, Texas; Elaine (Andrew) Branch, DeSoto, Texas; Charles (Vanessa) Galbreth, Seagoville, Texas; T.A. Galbreth Jr., Dallas, Texas; Anita Smith, Dallas, Texas; and Albert (Angela) Galbreth, Killeen, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sammy T Galbreth.
