Alexiya Henry Obituary (1993 - 2024)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alexiya Jenice Henry, who left this world on August 21, 2024, at the age of 31. Born on February 8, 1993, in Sacramento, Alexiya was a bright light in the lives of her family and friends. From a young age, Alexiya was raised by her beloved aunty Verena Vea, who cherished her like a daughter, filling their lives with love and joy. In 1997, she relocated to Elk Grove to live with her guardian family, Joseph Lee and his wife, alongside her sisters Shana Edwards and Roleesha Steward. Alexiya graduated from Franklin High School on May 5, 2011, where she not only excelled academically but also served as the president of the Tinikling Dance Club and participated in Jazz dance and stagecraft for various school plays. Shortly after graduation, she joined the United States Marines on June 6, 2011, proudly serving her country and completing a tour in Afghanistan. During her service, Alexiya met her future husband, Ravoughn Ladaryl Henry, a fellow Marine. They began their beautiful journey together on June 29, 2013, and exchanged vows on October 24, 2014. After four honorable years in the Marines, where she worked in accounting and administrative assistance, Alexiya pursued her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting at San Francisco State University, graduating in 2020. A passionate adventurer at heart, Alexiya embraced life to the fullest. She traveled extensively, learned to snowboard, skydive, and became a certified open water scuba diver. She shared her life with Ray and their two beloved dogs, Ocho and Jax. Alexiya found joy in reading, indulging in Mike and Ike’s, and savoring good food. In 2023, the family made their home in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Alexiya began working for the Department of Veterans Affairs of Las Vegas. Alexiya Jenice Henry is survived by her beloved husband, Ravoughn Ladaryl Henry, and his family; her aunty/mother, Verena Vea, and her family; her sisters, Shana Edwards and Roleesha Steward, and their families; as well as her guardians, Joseph Lee and his wife. In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.” Alexiya embodied this sentiment, and as Vivian Greene said, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Alexiya will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with all who knew her.
