Obituary for Rodney Hymon Jr.

Rodney Hymon Jr. was born in Los Angeles, California on December 5, 1990, to Denise Smith and Rodney Hymon. Rodney accepted Christ at a young age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rodney attend Mattie Academy Charter School earning his high school diploma in 2008. He obtained many skills in his short time here on earth. Rodney worked as a punch press operator in Long Beach, California where he was employed as a punch press operator. He also worked as a skilled sanitation worker at Foster Farms in Compton, California. During his last month he was employed as a recycling sanitation specialist with Republic Sanitation in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rodney also gained a certification in metal fabrication and refinery.

Rodney had a love for football. He took a liking to the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL team. In his pastime, he enjoyed being a movie buff. After work you could catch him on the couch watching a movie and unwinding from the day. Rodney had an affinity for spending time with his son, Khalil, and niece, Harmony Smith. Rodney loved life and was all about having a chill day and making those around him laugh.

On April 14, 2021, Rodney was called home to be with the Lord. His purpose on earth was truly fulfilled. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Demetri Smith of Long Beach, California; his aunts: Clora Mae Edwards and Gloria Richards; grandfathers: James Wilburn and Charles Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Denise Smith; father, Rodney Hymon, son, Khalil Hymon; aunts: Regina, Victoria, Patrinna, and Raquel; uncles: Tody, Kennth, Spencer, Eddie Hymon, and Dennis Broyles; sisters: Shanae and Danielle; brothers: Quincy, Alonso, and Marquis; step-father, Aaron; niece, Harmony,; nephew, Harlam and a host of cousins, other relatives an friends.
