Obituary for Dorothy Jean Fields
Dorothy Jean Fields, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at age 86 and entered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on March 15, 2021.
She was born on November 16, 1934, in Waco, Texas to Ella Mae Booker-Caldwell Brown and Jack Brown. Dorothy attended school in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Dunbar High School. In September 1956, she married Howard Edward Fields in Uvalde, Texas. They were married for over 34 years and had eight children.
They moved to Arizona where they owned and operated a small café for several years. Dorothy later pursued her educational goal and graduated from the Pima Medical Institute with certification in Adult and Child Health Care. She worked in various hospitals and did Private Duty Nursing for over 29 years. Dorothy continued to pursue educational goals and became a Certified Public Educator.
She was active in her local Christian community and was a member of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). She attended Bible School receiving several certifications and had membership in the Board of Elders World Evangelism. Dorothy carried out missionary duties and supported COGIC as well as other ministries such as TBN, Covenant of Hope and Hillsong United.
She loved music, traveling, gardening, reading, shopping and physical fitness. In her pastime she loved going on walks, work out in the gym and attend Health Fairs. Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed hearing about their latest achievements.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Jerry Don Fields.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her seven children: Linda Fields, Las Vegas, Nevada; John (Geri) Fields, Lorton, Virginia; Mary (Robert) Jerry Phoenix, Arizona; Harold (Yoshie) Fields Seattle, Washington; Jeffrey (Veronica) Fields Lake in the Hills, Illinois; Mitti (Gerald) Davis Goodyear AZ; Yvonne (Timothy) Schipper Miami, Florida, her stepson and stepdaughter, Selena Fields Gilbert, Arizona and Roosevelt Fields Austin, Texas and her twelve grandchildren: Ariel, Melani, Maya, Nailah, Akilah, Elijah, Abrianna, Amare, Asia, Jade, Genna, Thais, and one great grandchild, Ava and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
