Obituary for Shirley Anne Daniel

Shirley Daniel was born to Hosea and Bertha Staten on Sunday, September 7, 1952, in Rayville, LA.

She accepted Christ at a very young age and was brought up in church. Shirley remained there until her death. She was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. and Mrs. James H. McCray.

Shirley had a way of connecting with people, always leaving an impression on them and making them feel loved and accepted. She brought such love, joy and laughter to her family. This was a unique attribute we all could rely on, from the infectious laugh, funny jokes, and loving messages. These were things we knew we could expect from her. Shirley was a living example of the Judges 19:6 scripture, "Let your heart be merry."

One of Shirley's favorite pastimes was shopping. She could always find a deal! She enjoyed calling and talking to her family.

Although Shirley will be greatly missed by many here on Earth, it provides her family and loved ones peace and solace knowing she is resting in the arms of the Lord with no pain. She was preceded in death by both parents, Hosea and Bertha Staten and her baby sister, Marie Denise Staten.

Shirley Daniel leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband, Robert L. Daniel, Jr.; two children: Lukina (Clifford) Keys of Antioch, CA, and Reginald (Chelina) Daniel of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren: Jala Whitney Stewart-Keys, Alicia Renee Keys, Alailah Renee Keys, Amariah Joanna Keys, Reginald L. Daniel, Jr., Rakiya Le’Ann Daniel, Lawrence Fennell, Darrell Dumas, Devon-Tre Burgess; eight great grandchildren; three sisters: Mildred Tarver, Hercules, CA; Bertha Staten, Tyler, TX; Jennie Vantley, Fletcher, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.
