Obituary for Michael Bernard Cannon

On Saturday, September 12, 2020, our Lord and Savior called Michael’s name and he ascended to his heavenly home to be with Jesus Christ, His Lord and Savior.

Mr. Michael Bernard Cannon (66) was the second child born to the union of Larry Cannon, Sr. and Helen Louise Harris. He was born on June 24, 1954, in St. Joseph, Michigan. Raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan, he accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church by his Great Uncles, the late Reverend W.E. Ellis and Reverend Walter Vaughn. He played organized sports in high school but excelled in football. In 1972, Michael graduated from Benton Harbor High School.

Michael held numerous jobs after graduation but finally decided to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada. He remained there for over 40 years. He eventually became the Training Manager over Security Operations for numerous Casino Properties. He enjoyed working with people, and his constant demand through promotions was a testament to his unique skill set. Michael retired in 2017.

Michael’s favorite hobby was fishing. He enjoyed his time by the water with his fishing pole and best buddies. He always looked forward to the holidays and spending time with his family. Good food and lots of fun were always on the menu.

Hardly a Sunday went by that Michael did not attend church. He always carried his engraved Bible with him, wherever he went to find comfort and advice in the scriptures. He was a member at Shadow Faith under the direction of Pastor Vincent Clary.
