Obituary for Bessie Smith

Bessie Marie Smith, daughter of the late Nathaniel Reeves, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Reeves was born December 17, 1958, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She attended the public schools of Sharkey County in Rolling Fork, Mississippi.

She was baptized at an early age and attended Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Bell. In the early 1980's, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and became a member of the Second Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Willie Davis. She worked in the hotel industry until she became disabled.

Bessie, affectionately known as "Lady B", was a loving soul who loved to get dressed up and wear her hats and heels. Bessie enjoyed her life to the fullest.

On August 29, 2020, Bessie Smith transitiioned from this life to be the Lord. Proceeding her in death was her daughter, Latresha Smithand her sister, Viola Williamson.

Bessie leaves to cherish her memory three children: Tavares Smith, Anton Smith (Unique), and Terrisha Smith, all of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bessie will also forever be cherished in the lives of her family; seven sisters: Flora Rhea (Jimmy) of Boulder, Colorado, Doris Bell of Plainfield, New Jersey, Shirley Miller, Gracie Reeves, Mary Diann Johnson (Donald), Alean Browning (Thomas), and Jonnie Rashid (Faheem) all of Las Vegas, Nevada. A brother, Nathaniel Reeves, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada. Two brothers-in-law, James Williamson of Piscataway, New Jersey and Billy Miller of Las Vegas, Nevada. A very special friend, Jimmy Rome of Las Vegas, Nevada, Special Aunt, Alene Boyce of Middlesex, New Jersey. Two very special cousins: Annette Evens and June Jones. 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all who will miss her dearly.
